Some of us from Class of 74 posing(using a self timer)ExSAS or Persatuan Bekas Pelajar SEMSAS had their homecoming with conjunction of it 7 th AGM at SEMSAS, Kuantan, Pahang last Saturday 4 March 2006. I am from the second batch, class of 74. SEMSAS or Sekolah Menengah Sains Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah started its first batch which had to 'squat' in Abu Bakar School Temerloh temporarily for a year in 1973. We started from form 1 until form 5 but some of us had to stay until form 6 'sementara' which was first introduced i 1979.
Our first classroom in SEMSAS(Form 1 sci. 1)Our AGM ran smoothly and the incumbent president Ir. Mohd Imran Baharuddin was re elected for the second term. He was my classmate. My hearthiest congratulations to him.
This is the padang we used to train and play hockey.We were the Kuantan District champion for 2 consecutive years.

On Sunday, batch 74 had a class gathering at Nina's place. I was not able to attend after receiving an SOS call from Momad a day earlier. Roza and I rushed to Lembah Beringin on Saturday evening. We arrived at KYUEM Lembah Beringin around 10.15 pm and spent the night at Ampang. We had everything straightened up, gone to KLCC, then sent Momad back to KYUEM on the next day. We took Bukit Beruntung- Rasa-Batang Kali-Genting route to Kuantan. We arrived home at 8.00 pm.

I have never attended boarding school accept for my Matriculation in Seri Puteri. I don't really know how it is to grow up during all your adolescence away with a big group of friends day in and out.
But after marrying ikelah, I get to savour bit by bit, of this remarkable experience. Off and on he would rattle away about his life, its ups and downs in a boarding school. His relationship with his friends whom he studied, played, ate, laughed, cried with together for a full 5 years. The glorified moments of attaining high marks in academics, of scoring beautiful goals in hockey, or reaching the end first for his relay team. Eating in high tables or bathing near the 'perigi' as they have water problems back then.
I would not delve on several memories involving girls as these people might be reading this blog in view of this entry, hehe
But I can vouch that ikelah had a swell time there in his old alma mater.
Would I opt for a boarding school life if I were given second chance? Naaa...I am such a softie..I'd still chose home anytime! hahah
Nice pics. Guess you are ready for a higher class camera. D200 perhaps. heard you are looking for a 50mm lens. What on earth is that for? You should look for a 17-35mm f2.8 instead. The photos you published are mainly from that range.
SMSAS was the Hockey champion for 2 years and then St Thomas and the year after that I entered the field as a left insider for SABS team and grabbed the championship. Never scored any goal but scattered many defence walls and provided most of the beautiful passes for the others to tap the goals. I witnessed one astonishing goal made by Ikelah during his match against my SABS. A flicking goal high above the goalkeeper shoulder.
Class of 74, man... I would be born the next year...

Thanks. 50mm lens will be 50 X 1.5 will be 75 mm fro the focal lenght. suitable for potrait waist shot.
with a reverse ring, one can get a macro with F1.8, manual focus. there is a lens 18-200 VR, its not fast but with VR one can shoot with a slower shutter without a visible shake.

i was ssuprised you were there. i only remember boogey who was around. SABS came down with loads of supporters since it was their homeground. they hope for a win to pay back for the lost in last year finals. Nevertherless, SABS was a good opponent. they had great names in hockey and football. they were the king in this 2 games until SEMSAS took over. My hockey stopped at district level(i did not attend the district selection, my limits) but boogey went further to the state. My siblings except for p5 and ijan played hockey for their school.

hei..we were there too,but only for a short while.We arrived late on saturday as I was working in the morning. Manage to have about 30 minutes hanging around the school and reminiscing the past with others who came on that day.I say the boys really put on weight especially around their belly.Some I even dont recognised..I think its normal as I came in to SEMSAS only when I was in F4 before that I was from MGS from Std 1.

Your classmates all look decent, genuine and so-down-to-earth. I wouldnt mind meeting these kind of friends again.
It's all those high-up-in-the-air and all-so-eager-to-show-how-successful they have been kind of 'friends' that I'm not too prepared to meet up again.
Tak kuasa nak melayan. Life is too short to be surrounded by "the irritants." I've heard of the saying that if you want to know a person, you see the kind of friends or company that he/she keeps.

samalah kita. Di SEMSAS ada yang datang tak OK tapi setelah dicelup air perigi SEMSAS dia KO dan jadi OK. This included one anak raja who was sent by his mom and the inang who frequent every weekend to make his bed. So the we the seniors decided to call and rag him. he changed and there was no more inang after that.
I am beginning to like your photos. The potraits are alive with various emotions and made people stop at each frame instead of just scroll through. Good photos are not merely about megapixels but whether they can capture attention or not. It should make people stop either to wonder or for critics like me, to look for flaws or how it can be better. Either way, it makes people think.

You should start looking around for a good camera now. Learn about the specs, what it`s all about and then can talk with the right person. When to talk? Cecah je kaki di KLIA tu is the right moment. You can get a D50 if u ask there and push it during the 1st week. During the 2nd week, too late and it`s just gonna be a not too bad Ixus, after 3 weeks, he`ll just say your old camera masih elok lagi. That`s how it goes.

boleh new camera tapi..... have you go through your present camera's manual? have you play with all those adjustment. if not yet, an SLR is just not for you yet. your camera is good and your photos are great. "its not the lens but the person behind it"
